Do You Need CE? ...

ServiceMaster of Portland offers continuing education for licensed insurance personnel free of charge. These classes are designed to educate those in the insurance industry regarding the techniques and necessity of mitigation. Each course is three hours and provides the attendee with three credits toward an Oregon or Washington insurance license. The following courses are currently offered through ServiceMaster of Portland:

Water Damage Mitigation:
We would like to offer you an opportunity to lower your loss ratio and improve the service you provide to your insureds. We are offering a training program designed to educate you and your staff on how to reduce the size of many of your property losses. It’s called loss mitigation.

Smoke and Odor Mitigation:
Your insureds are not trained to think about things such as acid damage from smoke. Those gases can cause major secondary damage when left untreated for just a few days or even hours.

Mold Damage Mitigation:
How can a subject that’s smaller than dust and as old as dirt become so popular in such a short period of time?

Ethics:
“If you don’t live it, you don’t believe it.” Marion Wade, Founder of ServiceMaster .

This course is a practical look at ethical decision-making.  Instead of relying on a “gut-feeling”, the process contained in this program takes the decision maker through several filters which ensure that all parties affected by a decision will be considered.   Through examination of current events, group activities and case studies, participants will be given a working definition of ethics.   They will also be introduced to the philosophy behind ethics and the framework for ethical decision-making.  Overall this course will teach participants to use a process that will help them make better ethical decisions.
