| Here's How
We Care for Your Carpets ...
Know the facts: No other item
in your office or home absorbs more wear and tear on a daily basis
than your carpet, and no other item can affect the appearance of
your office or home like your carpet can.
Carpets should be
professionally cleaned every six months to a year. Not only does
ServiceMaster Clean have the equipment and expertise to fully remove
dirt and detergent, our professionals can help you eliminate
moisture from carpet. People using rented equipment often leave the
carpet too wet, and they do not fully remove the detergent.
The ServiceMaster
of Portland
exclusive carpet cleaning process includes:
1. Preliminary inspection
of your carpets to determine the best cleaning method
2. Pre-treating spots and stains
3. Pre-applying the cleaning shampoo to loosen ground-in soil
4. Rinsing your carpet using clear hot water
5. Post-treating any residual stains
6. Grooming carpet for efficient drying and uniform appearance
7. Placing pads under furniture legs to protect the carpet while
drying
8. Performing final inspection with you present to ensure you're
completely satisfied.

Spot Removal
Techniques
Remember that the best time to
clean up most spots and spills is right after they occur.
Using the proper agent, follow the techniques below. Be sure
to pretest a small area to make sure that the fabric will not bleed
or get damaged during treatment.
1. If liquid, blot up as
much as possible with a clean cloth.
2. If the material is dry,
loosen residue with the dull edge of a knife or spatula. Scrape
or vacuum up as much of the residue as you can.
3. Dampen clean cloth with
the proper cleaning agent for the particular kind of spot.
4. Blot area gently,
working from the outer edge to the center of the spot.
Turn the cloth frequently so you are always using a clean area.
5. Repeat this process
until the spot is removed or until you no longer have a transfer
spot on your cloth. Be careful not to get the carpet
excessively wet.
6. Blot the spot with
water. Blot any excess moisture.
7. Align the carpet pile.
Protect the area from any traffic and allow to dry.
If ServiceMaster Clean is
called to your home, be sure to notify them of areas that have
already been treated.
